Small Business Innovation Research Workshop: Support for Small High Tech Companies–Oct 14

Small, high tech companies can access $2.3 billion when they can meet the needs of any of eleven Federal agencies. The agencies prepare listing of the types of innovations they are seeking and companies compete for funding of up to $150K for  Phase I and over a $1 million for Phase II projects. The funds are non-dilutive grants.

Rick Van Diepen, LEED AP, Senior Associate PGAL
As a LEED accredited professional Mr. Van Diepen’s area of expertise is sustainable design and green building, and he has been a featured guest speaker and panelist for numerous local construction trade and environmental groups. He served as the US Green Building Council’s 2010 Southern Nevada chapter president. The Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity home that Mr. Van Diepen designed received platinum-level LEED certification from the USGBC.

12:30pm – Renewable Energy for Southern Nevada
Robert Boehm, Director UNLV Energy Research Center
& Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Boehm’s renewable energy research interests include solar thermal & photovoltaic applications, building applications of solar energy & energy conservation, hydrogen generation & use, utility issues like peak shaving. The UNLV Solar Site and the Las Vegas Zero-Energy House are among the Energy Research Center’s projects. Dr. Boehm has published over 450 technical papers including 10 books and his research attracts international attention.

Larry Niles, President of LADI Project Consulting
LADI specializes in process analysis and control based on the principles of ISO 9000. Over the past forty years Mr.Niles has worked with and for companies that design, manufacture, sell and service electronic and electromechanical products on a multi-plant International basis.
